Who buys a list of gyms

A gym list is an email list, because a lot of gyms will not give you a phone number.

54% of this file has a number. For a trade with a front desk, that is low. Chains push you into an app, and small studios list a form instead of a line.

46% have an email. So the working channel here is email and the website form. Build the sequence around that or the list will look broken.

The buyers are member software, class booking, card payments and equipment. All four are sold to the owner, and 75% of these owners run their own listing.

The average rating is 4.31. That is low, and the reason is the contract. Gyms get angry reviews about cancelling, month after month.

  • Sort by the phone column to group the online-first gyms
  • Sort by review count to split chains from single studios
  • Read the one-star reviews before you write — they are your script

One thing to know before you buy. 46% of these rows carry an e-mail, which is high for a local trade. Email is a real channel here, not a fallback. Plan the campaign around it.

50 of the 340, with nothing hidden

Sorted by review count. Even at the top of this file the numbers are modest, which tells you something about how gyms in Norway get their work. 33 of these 50 already carry an e-mail address, which is unusually good for a local trade. No signup and no e-mail wall — the addresses and phone numbers themselves arrive in your export, and that part is the product.

The FindAndClose search results screen, showing real records from the live index.
  1. Pick the trade Type it and take the match. One trade or twenty, on every plan.
  2. Pick the place Country, region, municipality, city. No plan gates the geography.
  3. The count moves first The number updates before you spend anything. Looking is free.
  4. Filter to the ones worth calling Has email, has phone, has a website, has a contact page. Combine them freely.
  5. Contacts are masked until export You can see a row exists and judge it. The address itself is the product.
  6. Export what you are looking at The file is exactly this filter set, with nothing dropped in between.
The Search screen, signed in, querying the live index. This shot is Norway → Plumber, and the 605 on it is the same 605 the plumber page counts. One query, no sampling, no estimate. The shot is Norway → Plumber; run it for gyms in Norway and the same screen returns 340.

Where they are

Norway splits into regions, and so does the file. Pick one region and you cut 340 rows down to a list you can work through in a week.

RegionRecords With emailNo websiteShare
Oslo 70 50 8 21%
Trøndelag 60 21 8 18%
Rogaland 58 41 10 17%
Agder 48 4 10 14%
Buskerud 35 18 10 10%
Vestland 35 17 6 10%
Troms 17 4 2 5%
Møre og Romsdal 14 1 2 4%

The 8 regions above hold 337 of the 340 records. The rest sit in smaller regions you can still filter to inside the app.

Start with the 57 that have no website

17% of gyms in Norway run on a Maps listing and nothing else. None of that is a gap in our data. It is the pitch.

A business with no website has told you three things at once. It has no agency. It has no marketing budget line to defend. And whoever you reach owns the decision, because there is nobody else to ask.

Filter the file to that group and you cut 340 rows to 57. That leaves 283 who already bought a site from somebody. Every rival list sells you both groups mixed together.

In the app this is one switch. Open the Gym category, pick Norway, tick No website, and export. The count in the corner updates before you press anything.

17% with no website is low, and it should be. A gym without a booking page cannot sell a membership at midnight.

So the 57 without one are a short, sharp list. Most are a boxing club, a small studio or a gym inside a hotel. Nobody else is bidding for them.

One more number worth holding. 75% of these gyms have claimed their listing, so most of the 57 you are about to call do log in somewhere. They chose not to build a site. That is a different conversation from one with an owner who has never been online.

Norway draws the line at the address, not the business

The four Nordic countries do not share one rule on business e-mail. They disagree with each other, and Norway is a case in point.

Norwegian marketing law requires prior consent before you e-mail a natural person. A company is not a natural person, so a role address such as post@firma.no sits outside that rule.

The regulator reads that rule harder than most people expect. A named work address counts as a natural person. ola.nordmann@firma.no needs consent. It still needs consent when the company itself registered that address as its own contact.

So the practical rule in Norway is simple. Role addresses by e-mail, named people by phone. The phone column matters more here than anywhere else in the Nordics, and this file is where you get it.

Whichever country you work, we keep a suppression list per account. Anyone who asks you to stop goes in it. The app then blocks that domain on every future export. None of this is legal advice. Read our full position on data and the law and take your own.

Two practical notes for working Norway

Norwegian business people read English without effort. They reply to Norwegian far more often. Write the first line in Norwegian even if the rest is in English.

Norwegian working hours are early. Offices thin out from three, and a trade is on site by seven.

Company details are public here. The Brønnøysund Register Centre is the national register of Norwegian businesses. Check a shortlist against it before you pitch anything expensive.

A sequence that works on gyms

Getting the list is the easy half. This is the sequence these lists are built for, written out in full so you can judge it before you sign up for anything. You run it in your own tool — we do not send anything.

  1. 1 Day 1 Email

    Subject The cancelling reviews

Hi — I read your last twenty reviews before I wrote this.

The good ones are about your staff. The bad ones are about cancelling. Every gym in Oslo has the same split.

We rebuild the cancel flow and answer the reviews for you. Members stay longer and the rating stops sliding.

Want to see it? Reply "yes". Reply "stop" and I will delete your details.

The average rating here is 4.31. Read the reviews first and the opening line writes itself. Send this to the role box, not to a named person. Norway treats a named work address as a person, and asks for consent first.

  2. 2 Day 4 Website form

Only 54% of this file has a phone number. Many of the rest take a form instead.

Paste a shorter version of the same message into it. Keep the subject line the same.

Forms land in the same inbox as your email, and they skip the spam filter on the way.

On most trades step two is a call. On gyms there is often nobody to call, so the form is the second channel.

  3. 3 Day 9 Email

    Subject Month nine

Following up once. Your website sells one thing well: the joining offer.

Nothing on it speaks to the member in month nine. Which is where the money leaks out.

Ten minutes and I will show you what we changed for a gym your size.

Do not repeat the first email. Move the argument on, or the second one reads as a nag. Send this to the role box, not to a named person. Norway treats a named work address as a person, and asks for consent first.

  4. 4 Day 18 Email

    Subject Closing your file

Last one. I am closing your file today.

January is your busy month. If now is wrong, say "later" and I will write in November.

Gyms buy before January, not during it. Offer the date that fits their year. Send this to the role box, not to a named person. Norway treats a named work address as a person, and asks for consent first.

The FindAndClose export panel screen, showing real records from the live index.
  1. It exports the whole result Every row the filter matched, not the page you happen to be looking at.
  2. CSV or XLSX Tab-separated UTF-8, or typed Excel columns. One file per job.
  3. 34 groups, 64 columns The same 64 on every plan. Nothing is held back for a higher tier.
  4. Three presets Contact only, full record, or the outreach set. Or tick your own.
  5. The cost, before you commit One credit per place, once per 30 days. Re-downloading is free.
The export drawer. Thirty-four column groups write 64 columns, and every one of them is on every plan — including the €49 one. The shot is Norway → Plumber; run it for gyms in Norway and the same screen returns 340.

What lands in your export

Sixty-four columns per row, on every plan. Everything on this page comes out of six of them.

The file arrives as CSV or XLSX. One row per business, 340 rows for this list, and no row limit on any plan. Here is how full each column actually is for these gyms, so you can plan the campaign before you pay for it.

  • Name, address, postcode, region and coordinates — all 340 rows
  • Phone — 182 rows, 54% of the file
  • Email, with the page we found it on — 158 rows, 46%
  • Website — 283 rows, and 57 flagged as having none
  • Rating and review count — 301 rows carry a rating, averaging 4.31
  • Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn — 166, 161 and 47 rows
  • Owner has claimed the listing — 256 rows, 75%
  • Opening hours, price level, the Maps category tree, first seen and last seen

This list is 340 rows. Every one of them fits inside a single month on the €49 Starter plan, which carries 10,000 lead credits.

Your export stays yours. Cancel tomorrow and the file you already downloaded is still on your machine and still in your CRM. We do not delete customer exports, and we will not start.

What people ask before buying the Norway gym file

Why do so many gyms have no phone number?

They want you in the app. Chains route sign-ups through a booking flow, and small studios run on a form.

54% of this file has a number, against 46% with an email. Work the email side and use the form for the rest.

Does the list separate chains from single gyms?

Not as a column, but the export makes it plain. Sort by name and the repeated names across regions are the chains.

Pull them out. A chain is one long sale to head office. A studio is one short sale to the owner.

Why is the rating lower than other trades?

Gyms take money every month, and every cancellation is a chance to leave one star. The average here is 4.31.

If you sell retention, billing or reputation work, that is the whole pitch. Quote their own reviews back at them.

How current is the 340?

The count on this page comes out of the live database, and the date beside it is the last time we saw these rows on Maps.

We re-crawl Norway on a rolling schedule. A business that closes drops out, and a new one appears, without you doing anything. Pull the list again in a month and the difference is the month's new openings.

Can I legally cold-email this list in Norway?

Role addresses, yes. Named ones, no, not without consent. Norwegian marketing law protects natural persons. The regulator counts a named work address as one, even when the company registered it itself.

So the phone column matters more here than the e-mail one. 182 of these rows carry a number. 158 carry an address. Call the named people and write to the role boxes. This is not legal advice, so check your own position first.
