The Apify alternative for people who want the list, not the build

Apify sells build materials: actors, compute units, proxies and runs. We sell the thing they make, at a price you can read off the page.

What Apify is good at

Apify is the strongest tool on this page. Give it a developer and it beats us on flexibility every time.

Apify is a platform, not a list. You rent an actor, feed it input, and it runs on their cloud. Then you fetch the dataset.

Their store holds thousands of actors. The Google Maps Scraper starts at $1.50 per 1,000 places. It returns hours, photos, reviews, menus and more.

You can write your own actor too. Their SDK is open source. You control the crawl, the parsing and the shape of the output.

Plans start free with $5 of credit a month. Starter is $29, Scale is $199, Business is $999. Annual billing takes 10% off.

Compute is priced by the unit. One unit is 1 GB of memory running for one hour. The rate falls from $0.20 to $0.13 as you move up the plans.

Proxies sit on top of that. Residential traffic runs $7 to $8 a gigabyte. SERP proxy runs $1.70 to $2.50 per 1,000 queries.

Extra concurrency costs $5 a slot. Extra memory costs $1 a gigabyte. Storage and transfer carry their own lines.

None of that is a complaint. It is what a platform looks like from the inside. You pay for the parts you use, and you can change any part.

Where Apify wins outright

  • Anything custom. Write an actor and it does what you want.
  • Any site, not just Maps. Thousands of actors in the store.
  • An open-source SDK, so you are never boxed in.
  • Schedules, webhooks and integrations aimed at engineers.
  • Worldwide coverage on the day you press run.

We want to be blunt about this one. Apify is more powerful than we are, and more flexible, and it always will be. Those are different products.

Apify and FindAndClose, row by row

Apify prices came off their own pricing page and their Google Maps Scraper page. Grey rows are the ones they win, and there are plenty.

Apify's pricing and features last checked on 26 July 2026. We re-check every month. Rows shaded grey are ones where they beat us.

Apify rates change by plan tier and by actor. The figures above are their list rates on the date shown. Your real bill depends on runs, memory and proxy traffic.

The FindAndClose search results screen, showing real records from the live index.
  1. Pick the trade Type it and take the match. One trade or twenty, on every plan.
  2. Pick the place Country, region, municipality, city. No plan gates the geography.
  3. The count moves first The number updates before you spend anything. Looking is free.
  4. Filter to the ones worth calling Has email, has phone, has a website, has a contact page. Combine them freely.
  5. Contacts are masked until export You can see a row exists and judge it. The address itself is the product.
  6. Export what you are looking at The file is exactly this filter set, with nothing dropped in between.
The Search screen, signed in, querying the live index. This shot is Norway → Plumber, and the 605 on it is the same 605 the plumber page counts. One query, no sampling, no estimate.

The one difference that decides it

Apify sells you a factory. We sell you the thing the factory makes. Pick by which one you want to own.

The line people forget on an Apify bill

The actor rate is the part everyone quotes. $1.50 per 1,000 places reads cheap, and it is.

Then comes compute, proxy traffic, storage, transfer and concurrency. Each line is fair on its own.

Together they are hard to guess in advance. That is the honest gripe, and it is a gripe about a model, not a company.

Our bill has one line on it. €49, €99 or €249 a month. Credits go in, rows come out, the number never surprises you.

Time is the other cost

An actor run needs input, a schedule and somewhere to put the output. Then it needs a person to check that it ran.

That person is a developer. In most agencies an hour of their time costs more than a month of our plan.

So the real question is not price per row. It is who does the work, and what else they could be doing.

If you have that person and they enjoy it, Apify is a fine answer. Many good teams run it that way.

Buy Apify anyway when

  • You need a site we do not touch.
  • You want fields no list ships with.
  • You are building a product, not a pipeline of leads.
  • You have an engineer with spare time and an interest.
  • Your market sits outside our four countries.

What moving off Apify involves

Less than you think, because there is nothing to port. A list is a file, and a file has no setup.

  1. Download the datasets you still want. Pull them out of the Apify store before you drop the plan.
  2. Add up last month, in full. Actor rate, compute, proxy, storage and add-ons. That total is the real one.
  3. Start our trial. 14 days, 100 leads, no card. Nothing rolls into a paid plan by itself.
  4. Rebuild one search. Same category, same country. Read the count, then export the file.
  5. Keep Apify for the custom jobs. Most teams end up with both. That is a sensible answer, not a failure.

There is no schema to match here, because Apify output varies by actor. Ours is fixed at 64 columns and never moves.

So the mapping work is one afternoon, once. After that the same import runs every week without a thought.

What you give up is control. You cannot change our crawl, add a field or point us at another site. If that hurts, stay on Apify.

Questions people ask before they move

Should I stay with Apify?

If you have engineers, often yes. Apify is more flexible and more powerful than we are, and we will not argue the point.

Move if nobody on your team wants to own runs, proxies and a usage bill. That is the whole audience for this page.

Is Apify cheaper than FindAndClose?

On the actor rate alone, often yes. $1.50 per 1,000 places is a low number.

Add compute, proxy traffic and the hours spent, and the two get close. Work out your own total before you decide.

Do you have anything like actors?

No, and we are not building any. We do one thing: local business rows out of Google Maps, in a fixed 64-column file.

If you want a platform, Apify is the platform. We would rather be good at one shape than passable at all of them.

What about proxies and blocks?

That is our problem, not yours. There is no proxy setting in our app because there is no crawl for you to run.

You search an index we already hold. The crawl happens on our side, on our schedule.

Can I get the data through an API?

Yes, a REST API from the €99 tier at 10 requests a second. Higher tiers run at 50 and 200.

It returns the same 64 fields the export holds. See what each tier includes.

What does the finished file look like?

Open one and see. Every geo page shows 50 real rows with no signup at all.

Try dentists in Norway or accountants in Norway.
